Team Coaching

A structured team coaching process and programme of activities based on the Hawkins model.

Overview

For a team to function effectively it has to collectively address a number of key dynamics and factors. Failure to do so will result in performance being sub-optimised either due to dysfunctions within the team or in relation to the team’s interface with key stakeholders.

‘Team building’ events are rarely sufficient to enable this, and as such we recommend a Team Coaching process to deliver improved performance and recognition within the business. The overall Team Coaching process is designed to both engage key stakeholders and enable team members to address each of the following elements (Hawkins’ 5 C’s).

Commissioning; ensuring there are defined success criteria by which team performance will be assessed that are shared and agreed within the business/amongst key stakeholders for both activity outputs and in the way the team engages with those outside the team

Clarifying; determining the Purpose and outcomes for which members will be collectively responsible, the Team Vision of Success and agreeing norms and standards of performance both within the team and when representing the team with others

Co-creating; challenging the Team to continuously assess and develop its performance, surfacing and addressing limiting processes and behaviours

Connecting; engaging with key stakeholders; communicating what the team is doing and partnering with others to ensure the Team is supported in delivering its key goals

Core Learning – Bringing it all Together; that the team assesses how it is functioning and identifies areas for improvement and actions in enabling that

To address the 5 C’s and identified issues we undertake a blended approach of interview, fact finding, and assessment coupled with real-time team workshops and coaching.

The following overview outlines typical recommended phases of activity and targeted outputs
